The government changed the joint leave scheme for the Eid Al-Fitr holiday in 2020. The latest schedule for the Eid 2020 holiday was decided only on May 24-25, 2020.
The determination of the 2020 Eid holiday was confirmed by the Coordinating Minister (Menko) for the Development of Human and Culture Republic of Indonesia Muhadjir Effendy, who said that Friday May 22 was not a day off together.
Muhadjir said that the decision was in accordance with the results of a limited cabinet meeting with President Joko Widodo.
“The meeting which was also short stipulated that May 22 in 2020 was not a joint leave for ASN and BUMN employees,” Muhadjir explained after the meeting via video conference, Wednesday (5/20/2020).
Thus, the state civil servants (ASN) and BUMN employees are asked to continue working on Friday even though it is a ‘hard day’ since Thursday is a holiday to commemorate the Ascension of Isa Al Masih.
Meanwhile, the Eid al-Fitr holiday schedule which was originally set on May 26-29, 2020 was changed to December 28-31 December 2020.
“Joint holiday on 2020, Eid al-Fitr is shifted in December. (Date) 28 to 31 December,” Muhadjir said when contacted by reporters on Thursday (4/4/2020).
Nevertheless, Muhadjir did not answer the reason that December was made as a substitute month for the Idul Fitri holiday.
Muhadjir continued, there would be the possibility of additional leave together with the Eid al-Fitr holiday to be shifted to the Eid Al-Adha in July, provided that if the covid-19 case had dropped and was no longer threatening.
