Detiktoday.com – News of the fate of Netflix’s block came up again, this time with a positive tone. Circulating news Netflix will be unblocked this week.
There is news that the Telkom Group will give a surprise by unblocking Netflix on all services owned by the state-owned company, including being able to access the Telkomsel network.
Regarding the news, detikINET then asked Telkom Indonesia VP Corporate Communication Arif Prabowo.
“We’ll wait for it. Later the time will be delivered,” he said, Tuesday (1/7/2020).
The same tone was also expressed by Telkomsel’s General Manager of External Corporate Communications Aldin Hasyim regarding this shocking news.
“It will be delivered at a later time,” Aldin said.
The statement above is quite interesting. Because when seen before, if there is an issue to unblock Netflix, Telkom Group always says ‘Netflix services cannot be accessed’ or ‘still in talks’.
For information, Telkom has closed Netflix access on the IndiHome, WiFi.id and Telkomsel networks, since the announcement of the expansion of Netflix to Indonesia in early 2016 until now.
On the last few occasions, this state-owned company admitted that they were in the process of talking with Netflix. However, Telkom has signaled that Netflix must first comply with applicable regulations, one of which is a matter of taking down content to ensure customer comfort.
