After the Earthquake Disaster, the Ministry of Public Works and Housing Rehabilitation 21 Schools and 1 PTKIN in Maluku

Detiktoday.com – The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) continues to support President Joko Widodo’s vision to realize superior human resources (HR) through the construction of educational facilities and infrastructure. One of them is by doing the rehabilitation and reconstruction of 21 schools and 1 State Islamic Religious College (PTKIN) in Maluku Province which was damaged by the Ambon earthquake on September 26, 2019.

“The Ministry of Public Works and Housing is working on several projects related to the management of the Ambon earthquake, one of which is the rehabilitation of educational facilities both schools and universities. This rehabilitation is a form of central government attention to the development of human resources (HR), which is carried out by the Ministry of PUPR. This is also the hope of President Joko Widodo that what we are doing is in the interest of the people, “said Deputy Minister of PUPR John Wempi Wetipo during a working visit to Maluku on July 27-28, 2020.

The 21 schools are in three locations namely 7 schools in Ambon City, 10 schools in Central Maluku Regency and 4 schools in West Seram Regency. The rehabilitation of the school began on January 27, 2020 with the budget coming from the state budget which is divided into two work packages, Package I worth Rp 36.6 billion and Package II Rp 8.44 billion.

One of the rehabilitated schools was SDN 91 Waiheru, which was heavily damaged. Rehabilitation was carried out by the construction of two new buildings, each built with six learning classrooms (RKB). In addition, a new 7×8 meter room was built for offices, renovating the teacher’s office and computer room. The total rehabilitation budget for this school is Rp 14.16 billion.

The PUPR Ministry also carried out the rehabilitation and reconstruction of PTKIN in Maluku, namely the IAIN Ambon Rector Building. At present the physical progress of rehabilitation of the rectorate building reaches 54%. This work began in January and is targeted for completion in October 2020. The work is divided into two work packages, the contract value of Package I amounting to Rp 386 million and Package II amounting to Rp 21.1 billion.

In addition to the rehabilitation of the rector’s building, the Ministry of Public Works and Public Works also built two other buildings at IAIN Ambon, namely the library building and the Mathematics and Natural Sciences laboratory. “Work on these two buildings is planned to begin in August 2020 and is targeted to be completed in 2021,” said Head of the Maluku Regional Settlement Infrastructure Office Abdul Halil Kastella.

The Chancellor of IAIN Ambon Hasbollah Toisutta expressed his gratitude and thanks to the Ministry of PUPR for his attention in rehabilitating infrastructure affected by the earthquake. “We hope that rehabilitation of several buildings will be carried out as soon as possible so that they can restore the education and learning process at IAIN Ambon,” he said.

The rehabilitation and renovation of educational facilities in Maluku is part of the post-disaster management of the Ambon earthquake in 2019 with a budget of Rp 79 billion. The rehabilitation and renovation of educational facilities in Maluku was carried out by PT Nindya Karya’s contractors and PT Indah Karya’s consultants.

The rehabilitation work of State Universities (PTN) and State Islamic Religious Universities (PTKIN) refers to Presidential Regulation (Perpres) No. 43 of 2019 concerning Development, Rehabilitation, or Renovation of People’s Markets, Higher Education Infrastructure, and Elementary and Secondary Education Units.

PTN and PTKIN development criteria are land owned by PTN, PTKIN or related Institutions and Ministries, buildings that are not in dispute or legal issues, prioritized buildings that are not completed more than 50%, have Amdal and IMB, have done an audit from BPKP and a building feasibility audit .
