Coordinating Minister for Politics and Security Moh. Mahfud MD on his working visit to Timika, Papua on Wednesday (07/22/2020) held a meeting and had a dialogue with the Task Force (Satgas) of the TNI, Polri and BIN in Papua.
The Coordinating Minister Mahfud appreciated all members of the TNI and Polri including BIN, who had seriously taken care of security, order and guarded the unity of the Unitary Republic of Indonesia.
In carrying out their duties in Papua, Menko Mahfud appealed to the troops to put forward a legal approach, and not be provoked by various provocations carried out by various parties so that the TNI and Polri take excessive measures.
“I know that your work is hard, but my message is to act cautiously, don’t be provoked into taking actions that can be judged to violate human rights. We protect this country wholeheartedly, and not be provoked by other parties, “said the Indonesian Defense Minister Gus Dur’s era.
Mahfud MD added that the task of the government including the TNI and Polri is currently more heavy because they have to focus on handling the Covid-19 pandemic, including in Papua. Even so, the task of securing the territory and the Republic of Indonesia must be carried out well.
“Do not let us focus on handling covid, then other tasks are neglected, for example economic problems, and especially in Papua must remain alert to conduct security so as not to appear acts of security disturbances that threaten our integration,” said Coordinating Minister for Politics and Security who in this working visit with Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian, and accompanied by Kasum TNI, Lt. Gen. Joni Supriyanto and Wakapolri Komjen Pol Gatot Eddy Pramono.
Our task as Mahfud’s continued government is to protect the entire nation and all of Indonesia’s blood. That is, maintaining the integrity of integration and contamination so as not to split, and protect the integrity of our ideology.
“Related to this, there are three challenges we face. In the west there is the problem of foreign intervention in the North Natuna Sea. In the eastern hemisphere like in Papua here, there are issues of security disturbances in the form of armed criminals, “Mahfud said.

Regarding development in Papua, Menko Polhukam said that a more comprehensive Presidential Instruction (Inpres) was currently being prepared. In this Inpres, control will be in the hands of the National Planning and Development Agency (Bappenas) so that Papuan development is more integrated and comprehensive in one command, and emphasizes the welfare approach.
