Puan Maharani closed the Session Period I of the 2020-2021 Session Year at the Plenary Meeting at the DPR RI Building, Senayan, Jakarta, Monday (5/10/2020). During the first session of Session, Puan ensured that the DPR had been optimal in carrying out its three functions, namely legislation, budget and supervision.

In her speech, Puan explained that in carrying out its legislative function, the DPR carried out the completion of discussions on a number of Drafts (RUUs), including the Law on Stamp Duty, which was a substitute for Law Number 13 Year 1985, Law on Ratification. Furthermore, there is the Bill on the Third Amendment to Law Number 24 of 2003 concerning the Constitutional Court, the Law on Protocol for Implementing the Seventh Package Commitment in the ASEAN Framework Agreement on Financial Services, and the Job Creation Bill.

“The government and DPR have resolved the latter through intensive and open discussions. Through the Job Creation Law, it is hoped that it can build a better business ecosystem in Indonesia and can accelerate the realization of Indonesia’s progress, “explained Puan.

The PDI-Perjuangan politician added that if this law is still felt by some people, it is not yet perfect, then as a legal state there is room to be able to perfect the law through a mechanism in accordance with the provisions of the legislation.

“The DPR through its supervisory function will continue to evaluate when the Law is implemented and will ensure that the Law is implemented in the national interest and the interests of the Indonesian people,” added the legislator for the Central Java electoral district.

In the budget function, the Coordinating Minister for PMK for the 2014-2019 term stated that the Indonesian Parliament and the Government had approved the Bill on Accountability for Implementation of the 2019 Fiscal Year State Budget, which in its implementation had been examined by the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK). “BPK provides an” Unqualified (WTP) “opinion on the 2019 LKPP and is the best audit opinion achievement that has been successfully defended by the Government since LKPP 2016,” said Puan.

In addition, the DPR and the Government have also approved the Bill on APBN for Fiscal Year 2021. Puan explained that the 2021 APBN will pay special attention to the economic recovery program and mitigate the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, including anticipating the need for vaccine procurement.

“APBN for Fiscal Year 2021, plans state revenue of Rp. 1,743 trillion, State expenditure of Rp. 2,750 trillion, deficit of Rp. 1,006 trillion (5.7 percent of GDP). With this APBN posture, the Government is mandated by the State Budget Law for Fiscal Year 2021 to work efficiently and optimize the effectiveness of the impact of the APBN on the people’s welfare, “emphasized Puan.

In carrying out its supervisory function, the DPR pays great attention to important and strategic issues, such as national security conditions, preparation for the 2020 Pilkada, implementation of national education in the Covid-19 pandemic situation, financial system stability, and paying special attention to prevention programs.
