The President Reiterated the Importance of Local Intervention Strategies and Use of Masks
Detiktoday.com – The Covid-19 pandemic has infected around 19.7 million people in 215 countries around the world. Covid-19 has also killed 728 thousand people. In Indonesia alone, to date 127,083 people have tested positive for Covid-19, with 82,236 people recovering and 5,765 people dead.
When delivering directions at the West Java Province Covid-19 Handling and Control Post at the Kodam III / Siliwangi headquarters, Tuesday, August 11, 2020, President Joko Widodo warned that the threat of Covid-19 was not over until a vaccine was found.
“Once again, the threat of Covid-19 is not over until the vaccine can be vaccinated against all the people in the country,” said the President.
For this reason, the President again reminded several efforts to control the Covid-19 pandemic, one of which was a local-based intervention strategy. According to him, handling within a small area coverage plays the most important role.
“PSBB at the village level, at the village level, I think localizing Covid-19 in this small scope will make it easier for us to solve problems in the field. So that one side will not disturb large areas, on the other side also from the side. our economy will not be disturbed much, “said the President.
In addition, the President also hopes that the TNI and Polri in the regions will also help, especially in the effort to enforce public discipline on health protocols. In particular, the President emphasized the importance of using masks.
“The main issue of masks, apart from of course those related to maintaining distance, washing hands, not being in a large crowd, but masks are the key. As previously stated by the Governor, choose lockdown or choose masks, choose PSBB or choose masks. We choose to wear masks, “said the President.
Regarding the campaign to use masks, the President wants it to be carried out massively in the past two weeks. For this reason, the Head of State hopes that the request for masks is submitted directly to the Covid-19 handling committee and task force.
“So please convey the request for masks to the Chairman of the Committee, Chair of the Task Force, so that we can really solve the matters relating to masks. Because this will solve many things related to Covid-19,” said the President.
On this occasion, the Head of State also reminded the importance of a region to carry out a number of stages before opening an area. The three stages, namely precondition, timing, and priority sectors must be passed.
“Not all of them are immediately opened, the steps must be carried out. The low-risk sector takes precedence, the sector with high risk, please brake, to be given only in the back,” said the President.
Also accompanying the President at the event were Minister of Health Terawan Agus Putranto, Minister of State-Owned Enterprises Erick Thohir, Head of the National Disaster Management Agency Doni Monardo, and West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil.
