“First the Governor, the regent who is uniform, simultaneously fighting for his region to handle Covid, is able to empower his people voluntarily to take part in doing things that can prevent the spread of the virus,” Edy said during a working visit of the House of Representatives Commission IX recess to DIY, Friday (17 / 7/2020).
Besides that, as the head of the region, Sri Sultan has a high ability and is trusted by the people in managing the area and has high authority in his community. Coupled with experience in dealing with various natural disasters, such as the eruption of Mount Merapi. The D.I.Y government is also able to make the community as a subject, because it cannot be handled by the government alone. The community voluntarily empowered themselves, their families and the environment to wage war against Covid-19.
The handling of the Covid-19 pandemic requires a quick response, and Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono X was very much aware of it. He immediately used the Disaster Law in handling this Covid-19. Edy rate, this is an appropriate breakthrough. With the Disaster Law, D.I.Y can use the APBD to mobilize all existing potential to suppress the spread of the virus from one place to another, without violating the rules from the center.
Not only that, the thing that must be given a thumbs up according to the PDI-P faction politician is the existence of social organizations such as Posyandu, youth clubs and others in the community that has thrived in D.I.Y. So when the Covid-19 pandemic occurs they are ready to help the government deal with the spread of this virus.
“Because the handling of health problems must be mutual cooperation, awareness of the community and empowerment of the community itself. So when this pandemic occurs, the D.I.Y Government only needs to pick a little of that element,” he concluded.
