The Indonesian Menpora Hopes that UNS Graduates are Ready to Face Challenges in the Era of Change

Detiktoday.com – The Minister of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Indonesia (Menpora RI) Zainudin Amali delivers a virtual oration to graduates of Sebelas Maret University (UNS), Solo, Central Java, Saturday (15/8). The Indonesian Menpora hopes that UNS graduates are ready to face the challenges of the present and the future.

The Indonesian Menpora said that Indonesia is currently struggling to face the Covid-19 pandemic. The affected countries are also said to be making the same effort. For this reason, all levels of society in the country are expected to continue implementing health protocols.

“Right now, our country is experiencing the Covid-19 pandemic, is struggling to restore conditions, both health conditions and economic conditions. We must remain optimistic, as a nation we must be able to overcome them together and work together, “he said.

The Indonesian Menpora also said that UNS graduates must be able to face a variety of new jobs in the digital era. Like any general profession, a profession that existed before the digital era, but this profession can still be developed in the digital era. The Indonesian Menpora gave an example, general professions such as education service providers, health service providers, providers of basic necessities, and others.

“Then, there is a digital-based profession. This profession was born because of the demands of the digital era and fulfilling the needs of the community through the internet. Well, this profession is like a digital marketer, social media content creator, graphic designer, digital public relations, “he added.

The Indonesian Menpora continued, competency challenges for youth were equally important. UNS graduates are asked to improve their skills, be able to master the digital world, to be able to communicate well. Then, being able to master foreign languages is an added value

“Without creativity, innovation, and preparation, you will definitely be defeated by the competitors who are waiting after you graduate. Well, the government itself has prepared strategies to deal with that, “he explained.

The strategy, said Menpora, is to prepare training for youth to become entrepreneurs. Not only that, the government also prepares young people who have the ability to build villages, through potential skills development at the village level.

“If we look at the average, school and university graduates must have the first choice, namely to work in government or private agencies. Well, I hope UNS graduates can become job providers. “To the graduates who come from various regions, come back and apply the knowledge gained and try to apply it to you to build your region,” he explained.

Then, the Indonesian Menpora also conveyed youth strategies in facing challenges. “Skills development is needed as a provision when going down the world of work. The trick is to participate in training, education and training activities, or the like, “concluded the Indonesian Menpora.
