President: Health Facilities Must Refer to the Ministry of Health’s Covid-19 Handling Standards

Detiktoday.com – President Joko Widodo instructed his staff to continue to strive to reduce the spread of Covid-19. Treatment and care standards for Covid-19 patients both in ICU and isolation rooms must also refer to the same standards provided by the Ministry of Health.

“This is very important so we hope that later the death rate will decrease, the recovery rate will be even better,” said the President while chairing a limited meeting discussing the report of the Committee on Handling Covid-19 and National Economic Recovery through a video conference from the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, at Monday, September 28, 2020.

Based on the latest report obtained by the President, yesterday, the average active cases in Indonesia stood at 22.46 percent. This figure is close to the world average of active cases which reached 23.13 percent. The Head of State requested that this development be continuously improved.

When compared with last month’s data, the average death rate due to Covid-19 in Indonesia also decreased from 4.33 percent to 3.77 percent. Although it needs to be acknowledged that this figure is still above the world death rate, which is at 3.01 percent.

“It is our common duty to press again so that the mortality rate in our country can continue to decline,” said the President.

In this limited meeting, the President also reiterated to the Covid-19 Handling Committee that local intervention patterns or methods must be applicable in various regions in Indonesia. According to him, local interventions or micro-scale restrictions at the village, village, RT, RW and other local levels are much more effective if done repeatedly and in accordance with the data on the distribution of areas in small units.

“This means that the micro-scale restrictions at the village, village, RW, RT, office or Islamic boarding school level are more effective. Repeated mini lockdowns will be more effective. Do not let us generalize one city, district, let alone a province, this will be detrimental to many people, “he said.

As for the plan for mass vaccination for the public if the Covid-19 vaccine is available, the Head of State asked his staff to plan properly as early as possible regarding its implementation.

“I ask that within the past two weeks there will be detailed planning when it will start, where it is located, who did it, and who was vaccinated first. Everything must be well planned so that when the vaccine is available, it is just a matter of immediate implementation of the implementation in the field, “he said.
