Detiktoday.com – The importance of unity as the key to the safety of the nation was an important point conveyed by the Indonesian Minister of Youth and Sports, Zainudin Amali, at the event, Peace Indonesia Ku, the 92nd Youth Pledge Day Edition 2020 at the Al-Muwahiddin Youth Mosque, Kemenpora RI, Sunday (18/10) afternoon. According to the Indonesian Minister of Youth and Sports, besides the spirit of never giving up, an attitude of being willing to sacrifice for one nation is very important.
Even though from various ethnic backgrounds, religions, ethnicities, languages, of course we have to protect the integrity of the nation. “The point is that without unity there is no way we can fight together. It is impossible for us to rise together because the most important asset is unity, ”he said.
He continued, at this time it was very felt that unity was needed in the midst of Indonesia facing the Covid-19 pandemic. “Our country and various countries in the world experience the same thing. The impact of this pandemic is not only on health but also on economic, social and other aspects of life, “he explained.
“Therefore, we must unite in facing it. The government with all its efforts will continue to cut the transmission of the Covid-19 virus. Of course it is also hoped that the community will join together, especially the youth, “he added.
We must all try to push for this pandemic to end quickly. “In essence, unity is the key to breaking the chain of Covid – 19. The essence of unity has been shown by our youth 92 years ago. And today we are tested again, whether we can unite in facing the pandemic that has hit this country, “he said.
Deputy for Youth Development Asrorun Niam, as one of the speakers at this event, said that 92 years ago Indonesian youth realized the importance of a united commitment amidst the differences that exist. This awareness arises because of matters of religious vocation, love for the motherland, and to practice universal virtues.
“92 years ago, young people from various organizations based on ethnicity, community and religion realized the importance of being united. There are Jong Java, Jong Sumatra, Jong Ambon, Jong who are religiously based, PPPI gathered and discussed national issues.
And this was then invested in the 2nd Congress on October 28, 1928 to find a common ground between differences, namely the commitment to the same nationality, “he said.
Meanwhile, KH Cholil Nafis, Chairman of the Da’wah Commission of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), conveyed that Indonesia was independent because of unity, including the Youth Pledge which spearheaded Indonesia’s independence by youths who pledged to unite. “In the future, it is impossible for us to move forward without unity, so the third precept is the unity of Indonesia. Even though we are of different religions, races, ethnicities and so on, we are united in defending the Republic of Indonesia, “he said.
