President Jokowi: It is not true that Amdal will be deleted

Detiktoday.com – President Joko Widodo emphasized that the Environmental Impact Analysis (Amdal) permit was not removed and remained in the Job Creation Law (UU). This at the same time straightens out the disinformation circulating in the community.
“That’s not true. Amdal still exists. For large industries, a rigorous Amdal study must be carried out, but for MSMEs the emphasis is more on mentoring and supervision,” he said in an official statement on Friday, October 9, 2020, at the Bogor Presidential Palace, West Java.
On the other hand, the Job Creation Law integrates the environmental permit into business licensing. Apart from facilitating the existing licensing system, this integration is also the basis for strengthening law enforcement for violators which will have direct implications for their business permits.
The Minister of Environment and Forestry, Siti Nurbaya Bakar, who on Wednesday, October 7, 2020, yesterday gave a joint press statement at the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs explained that the basic principles and concepts of Amdal regulation in the Job Creation Law had not changed and instead strengthened environmental protection.
“In the past, there was a problem with the environment, the environmental permit was revoked but the business could still go on. Now (with the Job Creation Law) it is getting stronger. If there is a problem with the environmental (permit), then you are sued for the business permit so it can be directly hit by the permit. his business, “said Siti Nurbaya Bakar.
“Therefore, it is not true to say that this law weakens environmental protection,” he added.
