The first sector is investment. According to Kang Emil – greeting Ridwan Kamil, West Java is ready to welcome companies that plan to relocate businesses from China to Indonesia in the future.
“Who can pick up this opportunity after COVID-19, then he will be the winner,” said Kang Emil in the iNews Leaders Talks Webinar titled ‘Economic Recovery of West Java When New Normal’ at the Pakuan Building, Bandung City, Thursday (9/7 / 20).
“Every year we win investment in Indonesia, Rp. 137 trillion investment goes to West Java. But, with this COVID-19, investors moved a lot from China, yes, we welcome it, “he added.
In addition to investment, said Kang Emil, West Java continues to innovate with self-sufficiency in medical devices (medical devices) handling COVID-19. Starting from the rapid test tool to the ventilator. That way, West Java can reduce the import of medical equipment.
“We can be a provider of Indonesian products, and also exporters to the world, such as PT Pindad can make a ventilator, one day we can export rapid tests made by Unpad, PCR made by Biofarma, and so on,” he said.
According to Kang Emil, West Java is predicted to be the best health center in Indonesia. Then, West Java suggested to intensely develop technology. “Because people who are fast with technology will be the winners,” he said.
West Java continues to innovate in digitalization. One of them is developing Digital Village. This can boost the economy of West Java, especially in rural areas.
Digital Village itself was chosen as Digital Equity and Accessibility in the IDC Smart City Asia / Pacific Awards 2020 event. Digital Village received the award because it was considered capable of empowering the community and increasing information accessibility through the use of digital technology and the internet.
“Sixth, this long-term economy must also be a necessity. We are building, but interrupted, a factory that converts plastic to diesel. And seventh, local tourism can be an opportunity in West Java, “said Kang Emil.
Kang Emil said, economic activity in West Java must be re-excited in the midst of a pandemic. He also targeted the economic growth of West Java not minus.
Based on CSIS studies, there are four categories or quadrants during the COVID-19 pandemic. Among them, the quadrants of bad health and bad economy, good health and bad economy, good economy and bad health, and the quadrant of good health and good economy.
“Alhamdulillah, West Java is in the health quadrant, and the economy has improved. This is a bit of our belief that our joint strategy with the regent / mayor produces the conditions that we expect, namely our health remains vigilant, our economy is slowly opening up, “said Kang Emil.
