After the 2019 Earthquake, the Ministry of PUPR Completed the Renovation of the Central Maluku Hospital and Tulehu Market in the End of July 2020
Detiktoday.com – In an effort to improve access to health for the community, the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) has completed renovation of the Tulehu Regional General Hospital, Central Maluku Regency, Maluku Province. This hospital was damaged by an earthquake of magnitude 6.5 that occurred on 26 September 2019 in Ambon City and its surroundings.
“Tulehu Regional Hospital has been completely renovated. Incidentally today is the first day the hospital is operating, although it has not yet been handed over but community services must continue to run. The renovation of the Tulehu Regional Hospital is part of the Ambon earthquake disaster response that was carried out by the Ministry of PUPR, “said Deputy Minister (Wamen) John Wempi Wetipo during a working visit to Maluku, Monday (7/27/2020).
The Ministry of Public Works and Housing through the Maluku Regional Settlement Infrastructure Center (BPPW), the Directorate General of Human Settlements, renovated 15 damaged rooms, including emergency room installations, inpatient rooms, cardiology centers, dental clinics and pharmacies. Previously, the Ministry of PUPR had distributed emergency response assistance in Tulehu District Hospital in the form of facilities and infrastructure (sarpras) such as installing tents for emergency hospitals.
The budget for renovating Tulehu Regional Hospital is from the State Budget, Package I worth Rp 386 million and Package II worth Rp 21.18 billion. The renovation was carried out by the contractor PT Waskita Karya with a consultant from PT Ciriajasa Engineering Consultant.
Besides Tulehu Regional Hospital, during his working visit Wamen John also reviewed the renovation process of the Tulehu Market which was heavily damaged by the Ambon earthquake in 2019 ago. At present the physical progress of the market renovation has reached 78.95% and is targeted to be completed by the end of July 2020. The renovation aims to restore the market’s function as a driver of the local economy by building stalls / tables for 20 fish markets and 10 vegetable markets.
The renovation of the Tulehu Market was carried out on existing land due to geographical conditions which made it impossible to add more land. The renovation budget comes from the state budget where Package I is worth Rp. 640.7 million and Package II worth Rp. 2.79 billion is carried out by contractor PT Waskita Karya and consultant CV Datateknik.
The renovation of Tulehu Regional Hospital and Tulehu Market is part of the post-disaster management of the Ambon earthquake in 2019 with a total budget of Rp 79 billion. Overall, the progress of post-disaster handling in Ambon has reached 32%. In addition, the Ministry of PUPR also reconstructed a number of schools and one tertiary institution. It is expected that all post-disaster work can be completed by October 2020.
