President Reminds Regions to Control the Corona Virus Spread

Detiktoday.com – The worldwide pandemic caused by the corona virus is not over. In fact, new cases that have been confirmed positive in a number of countries continue to grow. Listening to Worldometers data, there are 12.3 million people worldwide who have been infected with the corona virus that causes Covid-19 disease. A total of 557,405 people died and 7.1 million were declared cured.

President Joko Widodo reminded the local government to be careful in controlling the distribution of the Covid-19 pandemic in his area because it would affect the distribution throughout the country. The President also asked the region not to be complacent with the low Covid-19 positive number and not to underestimate this pandemic, especially after seeing reports of adding positive cases today which reached 2,657 people.

“Covid’s distribution across the country is very dependent on how the regions control it. I need to remind you, I think this is also a red light, today nationally a positive case of 2,657,” said President Joko Widodo when giving a number of directives at the Handling and Countermeasure Command Post Covid-19 Central Kalimantan Province in the Jaya Tingang Hall, Central Kalimantan Governor’s Office Complex, on Thursday, July 9, 2020.

Therefore, the President reminded the Central Kalimantan Provincial Government to continue to be able to control Covid-19 well with strict crisis management. Based on reports received by the President, positive cases of Covid-19 in Central Kalimantan reached 1,093 people, treated as many as 393 people, recovered as many as 634 people, and died 66 people.

“But if these small numbers are not controlled properly, crisis management is not carried out firmly, the people are not invited to work together to solve this, be careful the numbers that I have said can multiply. This should not be taken lightly. Can spread to everywhere, “the President said.

The Head of State also reminded that the Covid-19 pandemic has also disrupted the global and national economy. Therefore, controlling both sides of both health and economy is very important. The President is of the view that health must still be a priority, but the economy must also continue to function.

“The gas and the brakes are really controlled. Don’t let the gas be gassed only, but later the Covid will increase. Be careful both must be controlled properly,” the President said.

Related to this, the President also asked regional heads to assist in the distribution of social assistance so that it could be immediately accepted by the community, without anyone being scattered. In addition, economic stimulus for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) must also be immediately given to business actors affected by Covid-19.

“Check right, help them both with the city / regency budget, the provincial budget, and we in the state budget will also help both through the banking system and through the ministry system,” the President said.

On this occasion, the Head of State also requested that the regional government be careful in making policies on the adoption of new customs adaptations. A number of stages must be passed, starting from the precondition, determining the time, to determining the priority sectors that will be opened first. Each regional head also needs to apply scientific data and advice from experts and scientists in formulating a policy.

“Don’t make a decision without asking left and right, not using scientific data, this is very dangerous. Again, this is not an easy thing. Therefore, everything must be backed up by scientific data and suggestions from scientists,” said the president.

At the end of his direction, the President appreciated the Central Kalimantan Provincial Government, which had conducted a massive test. However, this was not enough and asked the regions to work together with elements of the Commander of the Regional Military Commander and Regional Police to conduct aggressive tracking and to always invite the community to implement health protocols.

“I think these three things are the government’s duty: massive tests, aggressive tracking, strict isolation. The duty of the people that we must keep on reminding: wear masks everywhere, keep our distance anywhere, avoid the crowd. Keep on being reminded of this, I think the socialization must continue “This number of positive cases must be stopped, not to add any more,” the President said.

During the event the President was accompanied by Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto, PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono, Presidential Chief of Staff Moeldoko, Head of the National Disaster Management Agency Doni Monardo, and Central Kalimantan Governor Sugianto Sabran.
