Detiktoday.com – The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) through the Directorate General of Human Settlements is currently revitalizing four public markets namely Kaliwungu Market in Kendal Regency and East Klewer Market in Surakarta Central Java, Pariaman Market in Pariaman City in West Sumatra, and Sukawati Market in Gianyar Regency , Bali. The work will begin in December 2019 and is targeted to be completed in 2020. This activity follows up on the assignment of the President of the Republic of Indonesia delivered at the Plenary Cabinet Session on July 18, 2018.

“The concept of market revitalization is adjusted to the harmony of the environment that maintains the values ​​of local wisdom. All activities starting from the planning stage to development involve the Regional Government, “said PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono.

Kaliwungu Market, Kendal, which caught fire in 2017 in Central Java, has now been completed 100%, rebuilt with better design and quality. Kaliwungu Market is designed and rebuilt by the Ministry of PUPR by following the Green Building (BGH) standards. Kaliwungu Market has an area of ​​16,035 m2 with a building area of ​​9,900 m2 and can accommodate 997 traders consisting of 184 Kiosks and 813 Los.

Kaliwungu Market facilities built are market stalls on the 1st and 2nd floors totaling 184 units, construction of 720 dry booths and 84 wet booth units, 9 slaughterhouse units, 16 toilet units on the 1st floor and 2 toilet units on the 2nd floor, fence construction, and 2 guard posts. Kaliwungu Market is equipped with public facilities such as a mosque, Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP), 2 units of Indoor Hydrant Box and 6 units of Outdoor Hydrant Box, Fire Extinguisher, Green Area (garden) of 565.28 m2 and Vehicle Parking Area of ​​1859, 62 m2.

The revitalization of Kaliwungu Market is carried out by a contractor PT. Kokoh Prima Perkasa – PT.Artadinata Azzahra Sejahtera, KSO and planning consultant CV.Ardi Permana Putra at a cost of Rp 32 billion through the 2019 – 2020 State Expenditure Budget (APBN). The Director of Strategic Infrastructure Iwan Suprijanto has coordinated with the Regent of Kendal, so that in in the near future it will be handed over to the Regional Government. “We hope that this market can be used to improve and restore the economic crisis situation in the COVID-19 pandemic situation,” said Iwan.

Furthermore Pariaman Market Revitalization also uses the concept of Green Buildings (BGH), so that it has a function other than as a place for transaction activities between traders and consumers, as well as a tsunami shelter. This market building consists of four floors with earthquake-resistant construction which costs Rp. 85.8 billion from the 2019-2020 state budget, with progress currently reaching 72.05%.

While Pasar Klewer Timur Surakarta was rebuilt with the concept of an environmentally friendly market. The market building consists of 2 floors underground and 1 floor on the surface. The scope of work includes scant pile, 3,769 m2 basement floor structure work, 3,522 m2 semi-basement floor structure work, 3,696 m2 floor 1 structural work, pairing and plastering work, door and window work, flooring, ceiling, painting, and mechanical and electrical. The budget of the development is Rp 51 billion from the 2019-2020 State Budget and the physical progress reaches 71.29 percent.

In Bali Province, the Ministry of PUPR is also revitalizing the Sukawati Market in Gianyar Regency which is popular among foreign and domestic tourists. At Sukawati Market, handicrafts of Balinese art are sold at affordable prices, making it one of the shopping destinations for tourists.

The scope of work in the form of the construction of blocks A and B with a total floor area of ​​9,493.74 m2. Block A consists of 1 basement and 4 floors with a total of 785 units and parking capacity of 24 cars, Block B consists of 1 basement and 3 floors with a number of kiosks 24 units with a parking capacity of 51 cars, in addition it is also equipped with supporting facilities in the form of work area playgrounds, Lactation rooms, banks, and friendly for people with disabilities. The budget for the market development is Rp 74 billion from the 2019-2020 State Budget and the progress has reached 44.38%.
