President: Reduce Death Rate, Increase Recovery Rate, and Control Covid-19 Transmission Rates
Detiktoday.com – The global case of Covid-19 has so far reached 15.8 million with a mortality rate of 640 thousand. President Joko Widodo has warned his ranks to pay attention to this matter and work extraordinarily in the context of crisis management.
In his direction to the Covid-19 Handling Committee and the National Economic Recovery through a limited meeting held through a video conference from the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Monday, July 27, 2020, President Joko Widodo emphasized a number of things.
“First, the Committee was formed to integrate health policies and economic policies so that the balance between gas and brakes. Health care is a priority, it should not be relaxed at all. The aura of the health crisis continues to be echoed until vaccines are available and can be used effectively,” the President said.
The President said that the establishment of the Committee did not mean dissolving the Covid-19 Task Force at both the central and regional levels. Health issues are an inseparable component of the country’s economic landscape. Therefore, the handling of these two sectors, especially in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic as it is today, must go hand in hand and be integrated.
“I need to emphasize also that there is no such thing as the dissolution of the Covid-19 Task Force both at the center and in the regions. Everything must continue to work hard. This committee is once again integrating economic policy and health policy,” the President said.
The Head of State then once again emphasized that the handling of the spread of Covid-19 should be focused on the 8 provinces which accounted for the largest transmission rates, namely DKI Jakarta, West Java, Central Java, East Java, North Sumatra, South Sulawesi, South Kalimantan, and Papua.
“I think the target is clear, reduce mortality rates as low as possible, increase cure rates as high as possible, and control the rate of growth of new positive cases as quickly as possible,” the President said.
To realize this target, President Joko Widodo also requested that testing, tracking, and treatment of Covid-19 patients be done massively and more aggressively.
“If there is still a shortage of test equipment, PCR machines, lab capacity, PPE, as well as hospital equipment, get it fixed immediately. Communication with hospitals, the community and the regions must be carried out as effectively as possible,” the President said.
In addition, the absorption of the stimulus handling impact of Covid-19 was also asked to be increased and accelerated. Data received by the President on July 22 stated that the budget allocated for this was only absorbed by 19 percent.
“This is still not optimal and the speed is still lacking,” the president said.
