Member of West Java Regional Representative Council Faces Recess Amid Covid-19 Pandemic

“The 3rd recess is not as usual. This recess is slightly different from the previous recess because it is still in the Covid-19 pandemic, although large-scale social restrictions have been lifted, “she told Tagar when met at the West Java Regional House of Representatives, Bandung, Wednesday, July 1, 2020.
If the previous recess members of the council will invite the public to capture aspirations further Ineu explained, this recess was precisely the members of the council who directly met with the community one by one, groups or by region in collecting aspirations, complaints and so forth. This is done in order to prevent crowds and prevent the risk of exposure to Covid-19 or the new Covid-19 cluster.
“Even though the PSBB has been revoked and is preparing to Adapt New Habits, 119 councilors must avoid all risks exposed by Covid-19, one of which is a crowd,” she explained.
In addition to direct blusukan, the recess carried out must also implement strict health protocols for both the 119 members of the West Java Regional People’s Representative Council, the communities they met include assistants and other parties who assisted with the recess.
“We still have to apply health protocols during recess, such as mandatory use of masks, social discipline and physical distancing, hand washing and other health protocols,” Ineu explained.
In addition to capturing the aspirations of the people in the electoral district, 119 members of the West Java Regional House of Representatives were also encouraged to take part in socializing the importance of discipline in implementing health protocols, especially ahead of new normal which is often misunderstood by the public. So that automatically 119 members of the West Java Regional People’s Representative Council must also provide examples of discipline in applying health protocols during recess.
“Why does it have to be a socialization as well? If socialization relies on village officials or other government elements, its scope is very limited. Well 119 members of the council are expected to socialize, correcting the wrong perspective about the new normal. Given, many interpreted normal life again without applying health protocols. Even though the provisions in recess must be at 8 points added by Ineu, he also hoped that 119 members of the West Java Regional People’s Representative Council would recess more than 8 points.
