Ministry of Social Affairs Wins Award in Organizing Child Protection and SIMEP

The Indonesian Minister of Social Affairs, Juliari P. Batubara received the Award Charter for “Commitment in the Implementation of Child Protection and Reporting the Results of Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting Based Information System (SIMEP)” in the KPAI Award 2020 event at REDTOP Hotel & Convention Center Jakarta.
“On behalf of the Ministry of Social Affairs, I would like to thank the KPAI Award 2020. This is evidence of appreciation and commitment from the Ministry of Social Affairs that child protection is not something we do half-measures,” said the Minister.
The Minister also said that all programs oriented to child protection in the Ministry of Social Affairs received a great deal of attention. “Our commitment, policies and programs as well as budgeting will be maximized in the context of child protection.
Because children are the future of our nation, “said Juliari.
The event was also attended by the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture, Muhadjir Effendy. In his remarks, Muhadjir explained the importance of child protection. The future of Indonesia is in the hands of 30.1% of the population or 79.55 million children.
“In children there is a black box that we do not know its contents because there are complex situations that will determine it,” said Muhadjir. The planting of national values and solidarity early on in order to be able to adapt will provide direction for Indonesia’s progress.
Furthermore, KPPPA Minister, I Gusti Ayu Bintang Darmawati said that the results of the National Survey on Children and Adolescents, 2 out of 3 children aged 13-17 years had experienced violence.
“Data on the Online Information System for the Protection of Women and Children (SYMPHONY-PPA) in January-June showed that there were 3928 cases of sexual, physical and emotional violence with 55% of cases of sexual violence,” Bintang explained.
The Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) in commemoration of the 2020 National Children’s Day held the “KPAI Award 2020” given to ministries / institutions, provincial / district / city governments, health professional organizations, law enforcement institutions, teachers who are responsive to protection children, KPAD, inspirational children and Children’s Forum.
KPAI Chair, Susanto in his speech hoped that the innovations of various parties in child protection efforts could further enhance efforts to protect children. “KPAI is trying to be adaptive to technology and one of them is by utilizing SIMEP. The indicators, policies, budgeting, case handling support and implementation of the Juvenile Justice System (SPPA).
KPAI Award recipients for 2020, in addition to the Ministry of Social Affairs are the Ministry of PPPA, the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Religion for their commitment as state administrators for the best interests of children, innovative in policies and programs related to child protection so that it has a positive impact on child protection services in Indonesia.
