Lead the FIFA U20 World Cup Ratas, President: Ensure Indonesia is Safe to be the Venue

Detiktoday.com – President Joko Widodo chaired a closed meeting to discuss and see the preparations for holding the FIFA U20 World Cup in Indonesia in 2021. In the meeting which was held via video conference from the Bogor Presidential Palace, West Java, Tuesday, October 20, 2020, the President asked for a report on the progress of the readiness for the event.
“I ask for an updated report related to readiness, especially related to the readiness of the main stadiums and supporting stadiums in the six designated cities,” said the President.
The government itself has chosen 6 provinces to host the U20 World Cup matches, namely in DKI Jakarta, South Sumatra Province, West Java Province, Central Java Province, East Java Province, and Bali Province.
On this occasion, the President also asked for a report on the readiness of the national football team to compete in the U20 World Cup from the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI). In addition, Indonesia also needs to convince the world that Indonesia is safe and ready to host the FIFA U20 World Cup.
“Lastly, this is the most important, we must ensure that Indonesia has prepared strict health protocols so that it is very safe to visit and serve as a venue for the 2021 U20,” he said.
